Fishing with Bob and Bruce Day 3 of 4...9/30/26

by Capt Juls on 10/05/26

Another short report…and not a lot of pics..
Hi-Way was out of minnows this morning, and he didn’t know when the next delivery would be, so luckily I had some frozen shiners for us to use.
Launched out of Mazurik’s at 7am, (because launching out of Catawba with a SW wind is no fun), and headed back to the last spot we hit yesterday…32’ of water between Catawba and Green Island. The current had changed, so it wasn’t as fast as yesterday, but they were still there.
We were close to the ferry route, and every time they went past the bite would pick up…then slow down again when they were past.
We ended with 47 keepers again (11 pounds). The last fish, that almost made it into the boat, was a bruiser that was at minimum a good 15 inches, or more! Oh well…while Bob was bummed, I’m sure the fish is happy it got away.
Looks like tomorrow is going to be a gusty south wind, so we will work the area from the lighthouse to Mouse, and see what we can find.
Stay tuned…
Capt Juls
